The all-new Triumph Speed 400 and Scrambler 400 X motorcycles were unveiled in June 2023.
This is the first set of products born out of Triumph's partnership with Indian automotive giant Bajaj, and they will be built and produced by the latter in India.
The Speed 400 is also one of Triumph’s most affordable bikes.
The Speed 400 borrows its styling cues from the Speed Twin 900, formerly called the Street Twin.
Standard equipment on the Speed 400 includes all-LED lighting, ride-by-wire throttle, switchable traction control, dual-channel ABS, an immobiliser, an assist clutch, a USB-C charging port and semi-digital instrumentation.
At the heart of the Speed 400 is an all-new single-cylinder TR-Series motor. It is a 398cc four-valve liquid-cooled DOHC unit that develops 39.5HP and 37.5Nm of torque.
Interestingly, while Triumph's larger 900cc twin-cylinder models get a five-speed gearbox, the new 400 range gets a six-speeder.
The suspension setup consists of a 43mm big-piston fork and a mono-shock, offering 140mm travel at the front and 130mm at the rear. It offers a rather accessible 790mm seat height.
The Speed 400 rides on 17-inch alloy wheels, shod with Metzeler Sportec M9RR tyres (international-spec models).
