According to the company, “The BMW of the future will have four new super-brains: high-performance computers working smartly together on what, up until now, were processed separately.” Two out of four new super-brains on the Neue Klasse will help enhance the driving experience.
3D-printed elements in the horizontally-set rear lights are individually controlled with variable light intensity to convey a ‘depth effect.’
Flush glass surfaces and bright Coral Silver exterior paintwork give the BMW Vision Neue Klasse X a softer look. The new design also gives it 20% less drag than any comparable model in the current line-up.
The Vision Neue Klasse X comes with the BMW Panoramic Vision. It projects key information across the full width of the windscreen. It will be complemented in production models of the Neue Klasse by the enhanced BMW 3D Head-Up Display.
The latest, sixth generation of BMW eDrive technology features improved e-drive units, with round lithium-ion battery cells. These new cells offer more than 20% higher volumetric energy density than that of the prismatic cells previously used. In combination with the transition to an 800-volt system, this will improve charging speed by up to 30% – allowing vehicles to charge enough for a 300-kilometre range in just ten minutes.
A fully plant-based, mineral-based and petroleum-free surface material called ‘Verdana’ was developed for the interior. In the Vision Neue Klasse X, it has been used in the lower portion of the door panelling and the centre console.
