With the new R 1300 GS, BMW’s flagship adventure bike has entered its next generation, evolving from the earlier R 1250 GS.
BMW Motorrad has opted for a completely new design for the R 1300 GS, with a weight saving of 12kg over its predecessor.
There is a base variant on offer, alongside multiple trim options like Triple Black, GS Trophy and Option 719 Tramuntana.
The bike benefits from an all-new stiffer sheet metal steel main frame, and the tubular steel rear sub-frame has been replaced with a die-cast aluminium unit.
The new suspension on the R 1300 GS comes in the form of an electronic Dynamic Suspension Adjustment (DSA) system that allows adjustment of the front and rear damping and the spring stiffness.
Electronic rider aids such as Active Cruise Control (ACC), Front Collision Warning (FCW), and Lane Change Warning (SWW) come as part of a new Riding Assistant option.
The bike gets all-LED lighting, with an all-new headlamp unit. The compact light unit houses a twin-beam setup and gets a bespoke light signature.
A multifunctional instrument cluster with a 6.5-inch full-colour TFT screen and connectivity features comes as standard.
The R 1300 GS is powered by the most powerful series production boxer engine made by BMW, to date. The 1,300cc twin-cylinder unit develops 145HP at 7,750rpm and 149Nm at 6,500rpm.
