The Mercedes-Benz G-Class has been updated with subtle styling changes, electrified powertrains and a few feature updates.
Design updates include a new radiator grille with four horizontal louvres, redesigned front and rear bumpers, new A-pillar cladding, and a spoiler lip on the roof edge. Twilight Blue Metallic paint is also available for the first time.
The addition of new insulation materials contributes to improved aerodynamics and noise levels. The ‘Manufaktur’ range for extensive exterior and interior customisation has also been expanded.
The mild hybrid powertrains with an integrated starter generator (ISG) and a 48-volt onboard electrical system deliver improved response, enhanced performance and efficiency.
The ‘Transparent Hood’ function works in conjunction with the 360-degree camera to provide a virtual view of the underside of the front of the vehicle. It enables the driver to better recognise obstacles in the vehicle's path. The function also helps the driver to properly assess crests, embankments and depressions that may no longer be visible through the windshield, if the angle is too steep.
The MBUX (Mercedes-Benz User Experience) infotainment system, with 12.3-inch driver and multimedia displays (with touch control), is introduced as standard on the new G-Class.
Inside, a redesigned off-road control centre continues to feature the switches for the three differential locks as the central elements.
A new 'OFFROAD COCKPIT' feature provides an overview of the most important data for off-road driving in the driver and central displays, as well as key functions. This includes vehicle positioning, compass, altitude, steering angle, tyre pressure and temperature, as well as the status of the differential locks.
