The new recall announced by Yamaha accounts for a batch of 125cc scooters manufactured between January 1, 2022, and January 4, 2024. The recall includes models such as the Ray ZR 125 Fi Hybrid and Fascino 125 Fi Hybrid produced from January 2022 onwards. The recall is announced in order to fix the probable fault with the brake lever functioning, which could be detrimental to the riding experience, if not fixed.
Yamaha dealerships will voluntarily reach out to the owners of the scooters produced between January 2022 and January 2024. For better peace of mind, owners can also head on to the Yamaha India website and enter their scooter’s chassis number to check whether their vehicle is part of the recall or not. Scooters found with the faulty brake lever will be fixed free of cost at every Yamaha-authorised dealership across the country.
The latest recall from Yamaha has been announced after a long hiatus since the last recall took place back in 2019. However, the latest recall is aimed at fixing a large number of plagued scooters, over 3 lakh scooters to be exact, making it the second largest recall to ever take place in the Indian two-wheeler landscape. Back in May 2021, Honda 2-wheelers recalled over 6 lakh scooters and motorcycles, consisting of models like the Activa model range, CB Shine, CB 300R, CB350, X-Blade and Hornet.Â
