XTI Aerospace, Inc. has taken a significant step forward in the development of its innovative TriFan 600 aircraft by announcing a strategic partnership with AVX Aircraft Company. Through a Letter of Intent (LOI) signed between XTI Aircraft Company, a subsidiary of XTI Aerospace, and AVX Aircraft Company, a leader in advanced vertical lift solutions, AVX will provide critical services to support the TriFan 600 program.
The TriFan 600 is a groundbreaking fixed-wing aircraft with vertical takeoff and landing (VTOL) capabilities, designed to revolutionise point-to-point air travel. By combining the comfort, speed, and range of conventional business aircraft with the flexibility and convenience of vertical takeoff and landing, the TriFan 600 aims to offer a unique and innovative solution for various applications.
Under the proposed terms of the definitive agreement, AVX Aircraft Company will serve as the prime contractor, providing detailed design, program management, subcontract management, and certification support services. XTI Aircraft, led by XTI Aerospace Senior Vice President of Business and Program Development Don Purdy, will oversee the management, direction, and oversight of the TriFan 600 program.
Scott Pomeroy, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of XTI Aerospace, expressed confidence in the partnership, stating, “The relationship with AVX provides XTI Aircraft with seasoned engineering talent and a company highly experienced in designing and developing vertical lift aircraft technology. AVX will help refine our current design, which we expect will accelerate the TriFan 600 development program while significantly reducing expenses for certain engineering capabilities and services.”
Kendall Goodman, President of AVX, echoed the sentiment, saying, “The AVX team is delighted to work with XTI on this development program and apply our decades of rotorcraft engineering experience to the TriFan 600. We look forward to working hand-in-hand with the XTI leadership team to deliver this market-driven solution for their customers.”
The TriFan 600 vertical lift crossover aeroplane (VCLA) is expected to find applications in various sectors, including Part 91 business operations, Part 135 charter services, Part 121 scheduled service operations, and special mission roles such as medevac and rescue, where time is critical. Don Purdy commented, “There are numerous use cases for the TriFan 600 within the Part 91 business, Part 135 charter service, and Part 121 scheduled service operations, in addition to special mission roles such as medevac and rescue where time is so critical. We look forward to working closely with AVX in the coming months.”
With this partnership, XTI Aerospace aims to leverage AVX Aircraft Company’s expertise in vertical lift technology to accelerate the development and certification process of the TriFan 600, bringing this innovative aircraft closer to reality and potentially transforming the aviation industry.
