Webasto’s Roof Sensor Module offers a coordinated technology set, with five lidar sensors capturing object distances and speeds, producing a 3D point cloud of the vehicle’s surroundings. Ten cameras recognize colors and objects, enabling assessment of traffic signals, signs, and lane markings. The Roof Sensor Module also employs stereo cameras for distance determination.
To ensure optimal sensor functionality, Webasto’s thermal management system maintains sensors within their operating temperature range. A sophisticated cleaning system tackles contamination from dust, mud, snow, or insects, and the de-icing function prevents ice formation on sensor covers during winter.
Webasto’s development involves a collaborative network of partnerships, leveraging the expertise of key suppliers such as Luminar Iris, Hesai, Innoviz, Bosch, dlhBowles, Canatu, Delta Electronics, and Covestro.
