Volkswagen ID.7 Tourer makes global debut

The new ID.7 Tourer is Volkswagen’s latest and only estate-body-styled electric offering globally. On the design front, the ID.7 Tourer looks similar to its sedan counterpart but things change drastically towards the rear profile. Since the ID.7 Tourer is an estate, it has a flat roof and an elongated rear profile, offering impressive practicality and boot space. The ID.7 Tourer offers 605 litres of boot space that can be further extended to 1,714 litres.

Heading to the inside, the interior design of the ID.7 Tourer is similar to that of its sedan counterpart. Sitting at the centre of the dashboard is a large touchscreen infotainment system, which offers a suite of connected tech alongside wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. Furthermore, the ID.7 Tourer also packs a unique panoramic sunroof with smart glass, which enables the driver to turn the glass from transparent to opaque and vice versa.

The new ID.7 Tourer also comes with the AR-based head-up display as standard. The AR head-up display changes the cockpit architecture as it allows classic instruments to become compact. Other noteworthy features of the new ID.7 Tourer includes motor-controlled AC vents, active ergo seats with pressure-point massaging, ambient lighting and a digital instrument cluster.

Like the ID.7, the ID.7 Tourer also offers a choice of two battery pack options — 77kWh and 86kWh. The larger battery pack is said to offer a WLTP-certified range of 685km on a single charge. In addition, variants equipped with larger battery pack support 200kW DC fast charging, which can juice up the battery from 10 to 80% in less than 30 minutes. Volkswagen is yet to give details about the motor configurations, but it’s expected to carry a rear-mounted electric motor good for 286PS.
