The Volkswagen Group has achieved remarkable success in the first half of 2023, witnessing a 48% surge in deliveries of all-electric vehicles (BEVs), reaching an impressive total of 321,600 units. This substantial growth is emblematic of the Group’s dedicated commitment to electrification. Notably, the BEV share of overall deliveries has risen to 7.4%, up from 5.6% in the same period last year.
In Europe, the Group stands tall as the BEV market leader, showcasing its ascendancy by elevating its market share through a 68% increase in deliveries to 217,100 BEVs. The dynamic momentum continues across the Atlantic, where the Group has experienced a significant 76% surge in the USA, delivering 29,800 all-electric vehicles. Even in the highly competitive Chinese market, despite a challenging landscape, the Group’s commitment remains steadfast, with a recent positive upturn resulting in an 18% increase in BEV deliveries during the second quarter.
The Volkswagen Passenger Cars brand spearheaded this electrifying journey, delivering 164,800 vehicles, making it the dominant contributor within the Group’s BEV lineup. Audi closely followed, delivering 75,600 vehicles, with Skoda, SEAT/Cupra, Porsche, and Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles collectively contributing significantly.
As the Group’s BEV success story unfolds, certain models have shone brighter than others. The top performers for the first half of 2023 include the Volkswagen ID.4/ID.5 with a remarkable 101,200 units, the Volkswagen ID.3 with 49,800 units, the Audi Q4 e-tron (incl. Sportback) with 48,000 units, the Skoda Enyaq iV (incl. Coupé) with 31,300 units, and the Audi Q8 e-tron (incl. Sportback) with 19,500 units.
