Vedanta Aluminium has announced that its CEO John Slaven has been elected as the Vice-Chairman at the International Aluminium Institute (IAI). While accepting the new role Slaven is in a better position to drive initiatives at the global level that will work to portray aluminium as an important part of the energy transition towards zero carbon.
There is no doubt that aluminium has become one of the key pillars of the net-zero transformation in the world today “Aluminium has already proven essential in the global transition to a net zero future…The IAI has undertaken stellar efforts in this regard. I look forward to working with my fellow board members and colleagues to reinforce aluminium as the definitive metal of the future,” Slaven said.
IAI acts as the primary organisation of the aluminium industry of the world. Its objectives are to raise public awareness about the manufacturing process, the introduction of sustainable production technologies, and the positive impact of aluminium use in the production of green technologies. It is interesting to note that IAI has a database of the most prominent bauxite, alumina, and aluminium companies across the world.
Slaven has a history of working in metals, mining and modern manufacturing for more than 30 years in the industry. This is demonstrated by his role at the Vedanta Aluminium as a leading manufacturer in the aluminium industry, producing 2.37 million tonnes in FY24. It also has the ability to produce value added aluminium products which are mainly used in the core sectors of the nation.
