At its last showcase at the 2023 Auto Expo, the F99 race bike featured a semi-naked design, which looked similar to that of the road-going Ultraviolette F77. The updated version, which is on showcase at EICMA 2023, features an elongated front end and a more aerodynamic design. Ultraviolette has also made enhancements on the performance front with higher top speed, more power and active aerodynamics.
Starting with the performance updates, the Ultraviolette F99 now packs 120PS power output, an increase of 52PS compared to the earlier showcase. The additional bump in power output has also resulted in better acceleration and top speed. Ultraviolette claims that the F99 can accelerate from 0-100kmph under 3 seconds and touch a top speed of 265kmph.
Speaking of its dimensions, the F99 boasts a wheelbase of 1400mm and a height of 1050mm. Its carbon fibre bodywork sits on a steel hybrid construction that’s mated to an aluminium swing arm. The advanced materials for its underpinnings have resulted in a surprisingly low body weight of 178kg.
Its front and rear suspension come from Ohlins while braking duties are handled by Brembo monobloc callipers. Additionally, the F99 uses a 400V battery architecture over the F77’s 60V architecture. The wiring harnesses and other electrical components have been modified to match the high-voltage architecture.
Another highlight of the F99 racing platform is its advanced motorsport-derived active aerodynamics. The F99 uses air intakes at the front which channel air around the bike while forming an air curtain around the rider’s helmet at higher speeds. In addition, it also features winglets which reduce drag at high-speed corners.
The specifications of the new F99 race bike are in line with middle-weight Japanese motorcycles. Ultraviolette is aiming to launch the F99 in 2025 and also roll out a one-make race championship. Alongside the new F99, Ultraviolette also showcased the Euro-spec F77 electric motorcycle, which is being offered in the top-spec variant boasting specs that are comparable to the equivalent India-spec F77 electric motorcycle.
