Uber, India’s prominent ride-hailing app, inaugurated its electric auto-rickshaw service in Ayodhya, flagged off by Hon’ble Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath. The deployment of electric auto-rickshaws falls under the popular Uber Auto category, reflecting the company’s commitment to providing convenient, affordable, and sustainable mobility solutions, particularly as Ayodhya anticipates increased footfall.
Expanding services in Ayodhya
In addition to the launch of EV Autos, Uber will commence operations of UberGo, its most economical car product, and Uber Intercity, a fast-growing mobility product catering to inter-city travel needs to and from Ayodhya, connecting it with popular destinations within Uttar Pradesh. This multifaceted approach aims to enhance connectivity to the temple city, contributing significantly to tourism, travel, and economic growth in Uttar Pradesh.
Strategic growth in India
Uber’s expansion into Ayodhya aligns with its broader growth plans in India and underscores the company’s ‘India to Bharat’ strategy. This strategy aims to extend Uber’s footprint and diverse product offerings to regional markets across the country, catering to the evolving needs of riders in diverse locations.
Prabhjeet Singh, President of Uber India and South Asia, expressed excitement about the expansion, emphasizing the provision of enhanced mobility options for tourists and pilgrims while creating additional earning opportunities in the region. Singh highlighted Uber’s commitment to supporting Ayodhya’s tourism, fostering a seamless travel experience, and contributing to sustainable economic growth.
A Decade of transformative mobility
Reflecting on Uber’s journey in India, Singh noted that a decade ago, the first Indian rider hailed an Uber in Bengaluru. Since then, the platform has evolved to become the preferred choice for riders and drivers alike in 125 cities across India. Uber has played a transformative role in the country’s mobility landscape, offering safe, reliable, and affordable rides across various modes of transportation, including cars, auto-rickshaws, two-wheelers, and buses.
As Uber continues to adapt to the dynamic needs of users and expands its services into new regions, the launch of EV auto-rickshaws in Ayodhya represents a strategic move towards sustainable and environmentally conscious mobility solutions, aligning with broader trends in the transportation industry.
