Toyota took the wraps off the Land Cruiser SE electric concept revealed at the Japan Mobility Show. The 7-seater electric SUV is spacious enough to seat 7 passengers on board.
Land Cruiser Goes Electric
The looming fever of going electric has struck the Land Cruiser as well. The new Land Cruiser SE electric concept depicts how the all-electric Land Cruiser of the future could look like. The Land Cruiser SE can seat up to 7 passengers based on the monocoque construction.
Speaking of its dimensions, the Land Cruiser SE measures 5150mm in length, 1990mm in width and 1705mm in height. Compared to the Land Cruiser LC300, the Land Cruiser SE is 20mm longer, 10mm wider and 240mm shorter. Additionally, the Land Cruiser SE boasts a wheelbase of 3050mm which is 200mm more than that of the LC300.
On the design front, the Land Cruiser SE takes a big departure from the boxy design and proportions of the LC300. While it carries more or less similar length and width, its considerably lesser height gives it a rounded stance over the LC300, which looks very upright and boxy. Additionally, it also boasts rounded curves all around and sleek LED lighting, rounding off its overall design.
Toyota hasn’t provided any details about the battery size and electric motors of the Land Cruiser SE. All the release mentions is that the Land Cruiser SE “offers the high-torque driving performance unique to BEVs.” Hence, we can expect Toyota to offer electric motors, one on each axle paired with a large battery pack.
Toyota also puts additional emphasis on the BEV quietness and how it helps to create a comfortable ambience inside the cabin. The carmaker also touched upon the off-road capabilities of the Land Cruiser SE, befitting the lineage of the LC badge. However, looking at the images, which reveal low-profile tyres and low ground clearance, it doesn’t seem anything more than an electric soft-roader.
