Toyota Gazoo Racing (TGR) and Lexus are gearing up for the Tokyo Auto Salon 2024, scheduled from January 12 to 14 at Makuhari Messe in Chiba City, Japan. Under the theme of “Getting more passionate about cars with car lovers,” the displays will feature “Beloved cars,” “Customization,” and “Motorsports.” Toyota Motor Corporation Chairman Akio Toyoda, known as Morizo, will speak at a press conference on January 12 at 9:30. The exhibits include new production models, customized vehicles, and parts, along with talk sessions, demo runs, and more.
Themes and displays
Under the themes of “Beloved cars” and “Customization,” the exhibits aim to express the joy of owning an automobile. The displays will showcase both GR and Lexus new production models, vehicles customized by professional drivers, and GR parts, including GR Heritage Parts slated for a 2024 sales launch.
Racing achievements on display
Vehicles that participated in the FIA World Rally Championship (WRC) and the FIA World Endurance Championship (WEC) in 2023, where Toyota Gazoo Racing secured impressive victories, will be showcased. Notable mentions include the “TGR TEAM au TOM’S” No. 36, winner of the 2023 Super GT, and the “Kuo VANTELIN TEAM TOM’S” No. 37, winner of the 2023 Japanese Super Formula Championship. Additionally, the CP ROOKIE PRIUS CNF-HEV GR concept, which raced in the Idemitsu Super Endurance Southeast Asia Trophy 2023, will also be featured.
Talk sessions and demos
The event will host talk sessions, providing insights into the development of new production models, featuring drivers such as Norihiko Katsuta and Hiroaki Ishiura. Outdoor activities include a gymkhana duel between the AE86 BEV Concept and Keiichi Tsuchiya’s AE86 Super Mame-go on January 13. On January 14, Norihiko Katsuta and WRC driver Takamoto Katsuta will give demo runs, including the GR YARIS Rally1 HYBRID.
