Theon Design, a specialist in bespoke automotive enhancements, introduces GBR002, the second custom-built Porsche 911 (964) for a UK customer.
Modern aesthetics with a classic touch
GBR002, finished in Oak Green Metallic with subtle ‘ghost’ stripes, embodies Theon Design’s dedication to preserving Porsche’s essence. The exterior features satin chrome elements and 18” Fuchs-style wheels, maintaining a traditional Porsche aesthetic.
Enhanced performance
The heart of GBR002 lies in its modern performance capabilities. A full carbon body houses a 4.0-litre naturally aspirated flat-six engine, delivering 406bhp. This air-cooled powerhouse achieves over 100bhp per litre, rivaling contemporary performance cars while preserving the classic air-cooled flat-six character.
Thoughtful interior upgrades
The interior boasts Theon Design’s aluminium upgrade package, seamlessly integrating modern features while retaining the classic Porsche cockpit feel. Billet aluminium replaces various components, enhancing tactile quality. Muslin leather seats and trim, a Bluetooth-enabled stereo, and a new centre console extension with wireless phone charging contribute to a modernized driving experience.
Commitment to Porsche philosophy
Theon Co-Founder Adam Hawley emphasises their commitment to enhance every element while respecting Porsche’s philosophy. The goal is to elevate the classic Porsche experience, ensuring that each Theon Design car retains the unmistakable feel of a classic Porsche while offering enhanced performance and usability.
Comprehensive revision from classic foundations
GBR002 originates from a 1992 Porsche 911 (964) Carrera 2, taken back to bare metal for a comprehensive restoration. The carbon body panels, crafted with meticulous precision, contribute to a weight reduction of over 200 kg compared to the standard 964 C2. The strengthened chassis, coupled with modern enhancements like dual air-conditioning compressors and an electric-power steering pump, reflects Theon Design’s dedication to optimal performance and functionality.
Powerful air-cooled engine
GBR002 boasts a 4.0-litre flat-six engine, Theon’s most potent to date, producing 406bhp at 7,200rpm. With bespoke independent throttle bodies from Jenvey and a switchable ceramic-coated exhaust, the engine’s performance is further heightened. A Wavetrac® Torsen limited-slip differential and a new Hewland six-speed gearbox contribute to a dynamic driving experience.
Sophisticated dynamics Package
Theon Design enhances driving dynamics with a TracTive Active Controlled Electronics (ACE) damping system, offering a switchable, five-stage setup. Calibrated for optimal performance, this system ensures resolute traction on various road surfaces.
Thoughtful interior design
The interior is designed for fast road touring, featuring Recaro CS seats, Theon touring rear seats, and Muslin leather upholstery. A Nardi “deep dish” steering wheel, a modern stereo with DAB radio and phone connectivity, and Theon’s HVAC and control unit add to the comfort and convenience.
Theon design experience
Each Theon Design commission takes 18 months to build, with prices starting at £380,000, excluding the donor car, shipping, and local taxes. The bespoke creations reflect a fusion of cutting-edge automotive technology, modern manufacturing, and traditional British craftsmanship, delivering a unique driving experience.
The introduction of GBR002 reinforces Theon Design’s commitment to redefining classic Porsches, offering bespoke enhancements that combine modern performance with the timeless appeal of air-cooled 911s.
