Starting with the cosmetic enhancements, Porsche has now strongly differentiated design cues for the Turbo variants over the regular ones. Key design elements of the 2024 Porsche Taycan include an updated set of LED headlights, tail lights and tweaked bumpers. The changes are said to accentuate the model’s visual presence and emphasise its width.
On the inside, there are no visual changes but a couple of functional enhancements. All the user-interface screens have been updated for a more seamless experience and Apple CarPlay is also said to have deeply integrated into the vehicle’s displays. Furthermore, the rotary-type drive mode controller on the steering now comes as a standard and the in-car video function enables video streaming on the central and passenger display.
While the new Porsche may not come across as thoroughly updated, a lot of changes lie under its bodyshell that do not meet the eyes. The new Taycan range is said to deliver over 35% more range than its predecessor, with the maximum range increase said to be 175km for certain variants. The new Taycan also charges faster, thanks to the 320kW DC fast charging support, which is 50kW more than the outgoing model.
Despite the aforementioned enhancements, the new Taycan range weights up to 15kg less than the equivalent older iterations. The performance battery plus, which is available in a certain set of Taycan models, now boasts an increased capability of 105kWh, which is up from 93kWh on the last model. The new battery pack can also feed in power in its cells faster, as 10-80% fast charge can happen in a mere 18 minutes.
Coming to the performance, the new Taycan packs a next-gen rear-axle motor, which boosts the overall power output by 108PS across all models. Other updates include a modified pulse inverter with optimised software, more powerful batteries, revised thermal management, a next-generation heat pump and a modified recuperation and all-wheel-drive strategy.
To further boost the agility of the Taycan, the new models now offer adaptive air suspension as standard. All-wheel drive variants can be specced with optional Porsche Active Ride suspension, which offers an unprecedented bandwidth between driving comfort and driving dynamics.
