Tesla has unveiled the latest iteration of its Model 3 lineup, introducing the Highland Performance variant to the U.S. Promoted as the most potent Model 3 to date, this new release boasts notable enhancements in both power and performance.
With a robust 517 PS and 740 Nm of torque, the Model 3 Performance accelerates from 0-100kmph in 2.9 seconds, outpacing its predecessor’s 3.1-second mark. This acceleration is attributed to Tesla’s fourth-generation drive unit, which carries notable improvements, including 22% increase in continuous power, 32% boost in peak power, and 16% percent rise in peak torque. Despite these enhancements, the vehicle maintains an impressive range of 476 kilometres.
Performance enhancements extend beyond acceleration, with upgrades to the suspension system and braking capabilities. The new Track Mode, featuring adaptive dampers, enhances body control and powertrain performance. Additionally, high-performance brakes deliver a sharper pedal feel, enhanced stopping power, and improved heat management. Complementing these advancements are new 20-inch forged wheels, designed to reduce weight and enhance overall performance.
Visually, the Model 3 Performance distinguishes itself from other models in the lineup with subtle modifications to the front and rear fascia, aimed at reducing drag. The addition of a new diffuser and carbon fibre spoiler contributes to a 5% decrease in drag and a 36% reduction in lift compared to its predecessor.
Inside the cabin, carbon fibre accents adorn the dash, adding a touch of sportiness to the interior. The cabin also features sporty bucket seats with improved bolstering and ventilation function, enhancing comfort and support for occupants during spirited driving.
For those interested in advanced driver assistance features, Tesla offers its Full Self-Driving technology as an optional upgrade for an additional USD 8,000. Additionally, customers can choose from a range of paint options, including Deep Blue metallic and Ultra Red, which come with varying price premiums ranging from USD 1,000 to USD 2,000. The updated Tesla Model 3 Performance prices start from USD 40,490 after federal tax and other subsidised benefits.
