Tesla is gearing up to launch a fun and competitive feature with its upcoming 2024.20 software update. Along with various improvements and new additions, the electric vehicle company plans to introduce a local leaderboard system for its onboard racing game, Beach Buggy Racing.
The update will allow Tesla owners to participate in special Supercharger races at charging stations and compete for the fastest lap times on leaderboards at those locations. This feature will initially be available only in the United States but will be accessible across Tesla’s entire vehicle lineup.
In addition to the racing leaderboard, the 2024.20 update promises enhancements to security, adaptive high beam performance, and air conditioning efficiency during hot weather conditions. Tesla aims to improve cabin cooling speed while maintaining comfort levels with lower noise levels.
Notably, the update will incorporate important security fixes and an “Autopilot Suspension” system. If drivers receive five “Autopilot strikeouts,” Tesla will suspend the Autopilot feature, although one strikeout will be forgiven for every 7-day period without any strikeouts.
While these details are based on an early look at the release notes, additional features may be included in the final software update. Tesla has been consistently rolling out updates, such as the recent 2024.14.3 and 2024.2.11 versions, which introduced various improvements and additions, including an Autopark feature based on the company’s Full Self-Driving (FSD) neural network.
Specifically, the changes in 2024.20 are designed to accelerate the cooling process within the vehicle cabin during hot weather, ensuring a more rapid temperature reduction. At the same time, Tesla aims to maintain occupant comfort levels while operating at lower noise levels, contributing to a quieter and more pleasant in-cabin experience.
Over the past six months, Tesla has rolled out several updates to its HVAC systems, collectively aimed at delivering a quieter and more comfortable driving experience. One of the recent major updates introduced a pre-conditioning feature, which initiates a cool-down or warm-up process before circulating air into the cabin, further enhancing thermal comfort.
These ongoing improvements to the climate control system demonstrate Tesla’s commitment to continuously refining and optimising the overall in-vehicle experience for its customers, addressing both temperature extremes and prioritizing occupant comfort and quietness.
