Global product engineering and digital services company Tata Technologies has announced its premium partnership with AUTOSAR, a global development alliance encompassing car manufacturers, suppliers, and other industry players. With over 280 partners including major automotive players like BMW, Volkswagen, Toyota, Ford, and more, AUTOSAR aims to standardize vehicle electronic control unit (ECU) software architecture, enhancing the efficiency of automotive system software integration and development.
The surge in software defined vehicles (SDVs) has brought about greater complexity in automotive software, affecting functionality and architecture. This growth has led to heightened development costs and timeframes for vehicle manufacturers. The shift toward centralized electrical/electronic (E/E) architectures driven by high-performance computing units for mixed-critical safety applications has added to this complexity. AUTOSAR plays a pivotal role in addressing these challenges by offering standardization and a foundational framework.
Tata Technologies, renowned for its profound understanding of automotive domain knowledge and expertise in physical and digital layers of product engineering, is well-positioned to develop safety-critical automotive software in collaboration with global original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) and Tier 1 suppliers. This partnership with AUTOSAR intends to foster cooperation in developing new standards and software architecture for future vehicle systems. It also aims to promote and facilitate the global adoption of AUTOSAR standards.
Warren Harris, Chief Executive Officer of Tata Technologies, expressed enthusiasm about the partnership, emphasizing its commitment to the automotive sector. Harris stated, “This partnership further strengthens our commitment to the automotive industry and enables us to work more closely with the other members to develop and implement open standards that aim to improve the efficiency of the development process, reduce costs and increase the overall quality of the vehicles.”
Thomas Rüping, AUTOSAR Chairperson, welcomed Tata Technologies as a premium partner, noting their extensive experience in the automotive domain. Rüping highlighted Tata Technologies’ contribution to the development of novel concepts and standards across AUTOSAR Platforms.
