Tata Punch EV, based on acti.ev platform, launched at INR 11 lakh

Tata Passenger Electric Mobility Ltd (TPEM), a subsidiary of Tata Motors, has launched its first electric vehicle based on the acti.ev platform – Punch EV – at a starting price of INR 10.99 lakh (introductory, ex-showroom). The vehicle will be made available at all authorized Tata Motors showrooms as well as the newly opened Tata.ev stores across the country. The vehicle is available in three personas – Smart, Adventure and Empowered and two battery pack options – 25 kWh and 35 kWh. It is touted to deliver an MIDC range of 315 km and 421 km, depending on the battery pack.

Variant-wise pricing breakup

While the Smart variant costs INR 10.99 lakh, the price goes up to INR 14.49 lakh for the long range Empowered+ variant. The Adventure, Empowered and Empowered+ variants come with optional sunroof feature for an additional INR 50,000.

Battery and charging highlights:

The two battery pack options are complemented with two e-Drive options – a 60kW Permanent Magnet Synchronous AC Motor, producing 114Nm and a 90kW Permanent Magnet Synchronous AC Motor delivering 190Nm of torque. The EV can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 9.5 seconds and gets an electronically limited top speed of 140km/h. The battery pack and motor are IP67 rated for protection from dust and water. The manufacturer offers an 8-year or 1,60,000 km warranty (whichever is earlier) for the battery pack.

The long range Punch EV variants are available with an of option 3.3kW or 7.2 kW AC fast charger that can be installed at workplace or home. The latter comes for an additional INR 50,000. The EV can be juiced up from 10% to 80% in 56 minutes using any 50 kW DC fast charger.

Smart lighting systems:

The Punch EV has been digitally enhanced smart lighting systems. A smart charging indicator has been integrated to indicate the vehicle’s SOC levels while it charges. Bi-functional LEDs coupled with the central position lamp light up the surroundings while a signature welcome and goodbye lighting sequence adds a nice element when one unlocks or locks their car.

Cabin highlights:

The interior gets two integrated screens – a 26cm infotainment alongside a 26cm digital cockpit. The Arcade.ev app suite comes with 17 gaming apps along with the added advantage of wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay functionalities. An illuminated logo on the two-spoke steering wheel elevates the digital experience. Multiple voice assistants – the Native “Hey Tata”, Alexa, Siri for Apple users and Google Assistant for Android users – provides a seamless experience. The ZConnect Connected Car Technology with smartwatch connectivity is offered as standard.

Other features include a bolstered ventilated leatherette seats, an electric sunroof, mood lights and an Air purifier with AQI display. Additionally, the EV gets Paddle Shifters, enabling the 4-level Multi-Mode Regeneration and over-the-air software upgrade capabilities on the vehicle.

Safety highlights:

Tata Punch EV offers standard safety features like six airbags, Electronic Stability Program, ISOFIX, Roll-over mitigation, Brake Disc Wiping, Hydraulic fading compensation. Additionally, features like SOS Calling with E-Call & B-Call, Electronic parking brake with Auto Hold and a 360 surround view camera system with blind spot monitor feature in the high-end trims.
