Tata Harrier, Safari Secure 5-Star Global NCAP Safety Rating

The recently-updated Tata Harrier and Safari SUVs bag a 5-star Global NCAP safety rating ahead of their price announcement. Both SUVs secured 5 stars in both adult- and child-occupant safety.

Harrier, Safari Adult Occupant Safety

Both the Tata Harrier and Safari managed to score 33.05 points out of 35 points for the adult occupant safety crash test. Both SUVs scored 15.047 points in the frontal offset deformable barrier test and 16 points in the side movable deformable barrier test.

The test found that the protection offered to the driver’s and passenger’s head and neck was good. The protection offered to the driver’s and passenger’s chests showed adequate protection. It is worth mentioning that the footwell area and bodyshell, both were found stable.

Harrier, Safari Child Occupant Safety

In the child occupant safety test, both SUVs scored 45 points out of 48 points. These points include a perfect 24 out of 24 points for the dynamic score, 12 out of 12 points for the CRS installation score and 9 out of 13 points for the vehicle assessment score.

The child seats installed with a 3-year-old child dummy and an 18-year-old dummy were able to prevent head exposure during the frontal impact. In the side impact test, both SUVs offered full side impact protection.

Harrier, Safari Safety Features

Both the Harrier and Safari come with a standard kit of safety features which include 6 airbags, ISOFIX child seat anchorages, electronic stability control (ESC) and seatbelt reminders. Global NCAP also tested the electronic stability control of both SUVs and the performance was acceptable under the requirements of the new testing protocol.
