Suzuki launches the new V-Strom 800DE as an answer to the Honda Translap and Triumph Tiger Sport 850. With an introductory price of INR 10.30 lakh, the V-Strom 800DE undercuts its competition by a decent margin. The new V-Strom 800DE can be specced in 3 colour options — Champion Yellow, Glass Mat Mechanical Gray and Glass Sparkle Black.
Powering the Suzuki V-Strom 800DE is a 776cc parallel twin engine with a 270-degree firing order. Its engine puts out 84.3PS of power and 78Nm of torque and Suzuki’s patented Cross Balancer system ensures that the power is channelled without any vibrations. Other key highlights of the V-Strom 800DE’s engine are dual overhead cams, liquid cooling, a dual-stage catalytic converter, slip and assist clutch and a bi-direction quick shifter.
Speaking of other details, the Suzuki V-Strom 800DE packs a 5-inch TFT instrument cluster with night and day visual modes. Furthermore, vertically-positioned LED headlights, LED tail light and LED turn indicators give it a premium appeal. In order to deal with the rough terrain, the V-Strom 800DE underpins a rigid steel frame offering great straight-line stability and agile handling.
Furthermore, the V-Strom 800DE runs on Showa upside-down forks with 220mm of suspension travel and adjustable preload, compression and rebound adjustments. At the rear, it uses a Showa mono-shock with preload adjustability. The suspension sits on 21-inch front and 17-inch spoked rims with tubeless tyres and as a result, its ground clearance stands at 220mm.
Suzuki says that the V-Strom 800DE offers a wide handlebar with comfortable ergonomics and a 3-way adjustable front windscreen for reducing windblast while touring. To entertain riders with varied skill sets, Suzuki’s Intelligent Ride System tweaks the motorcycles’s controllability, predictability, and overall ease of operation. The SIRS works in conjunction with multiple riding modes, ride-by-wire throttle control and selectable ABS modes.
