Suzuki Motor Corporation is intensifying its commitment to motorcycle manufacturing in Malaysia by entering into a partnership with KMSB Motors, a Malaysian company. This strategic move aims to supply engines and other essential components for local motorcycle production.
The contract was formalized on September 15, with the signing ceremony taking place at the Prime Minister’s Office of Malaysia. The event was graced by the presence of Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim, and it witnessed the participation of key figures, including KMSB President Faez Yahaya and Suzuki Motor Corp President Toshihiro Suzuki.
KMSB Motors operates as a subsidiary of AFY Mobility Industries Sdn Bhd, which holds sole ownership of Suzuki Malaysia. Suzuki Malaysia is known for manufacturing and marketing Suzuki-brand motorcycles within Malaysia. Notably, KMSB has ambitious plans to introduce its motorcycle brand, named AFAZ.
Under this collaboration, Suzuki Motor Corp has outlined its intentions to provide engines and body parts for AFAZ models ranging from 110cc to 150cc. This supply of components is slated to commence in the first half of 2024. These vital parts will originate from Suzuki’s manufacturing facilities located across Southeast Asia.
At the ceremony, President Toshihiro Suzuki shared his perspective, stating, “In addition to sales of motorcycles, Suzuki would like to contribute to the expansion and prosperity of the Malaysian motorcycle market and industry through supplying parts to KMSB.”
This expansion in investment and partnership signifies Suzuki Motor Corporation’s dedication to enhancing its presence in the Malaysian motorcycle market while strengthening its role in the regional supply chain.
