Over the next year, Škoda will play a key role in Silverstone’s operations, with a particular focus on the upcoming Formula 1 Qatar Airways British Grand Prix. This prestigious race, considered one of the most important on the Formula 1 calendar, is expected to draw a massive crowd, similar to the 480,000 fans who attended in 2023.
Sustainable Mobility Takes Center Stage
The heart of this partnership lies in Škoda’s all-electric Enyaq model. Silverstone will receive a fleet of these award-winning vehicles, significantly boosting the circuit’s commitment to sustainability. This aligns perfectly with Silverstone’s recent installation of 24 electric car charging stations, a major step towards reducing carbon emissions and promoting eco-friendly transportation options.
The Formula 1 race weekend will see the Enyaq fleet take centre stage. A total of 30 Škoda Enyaqs will be dedicated to chauffeuring VIPs and hospitality guests throughout the four-day event. This not only showcases Škoda’s electric offering but also contributes to a greener Grand Prix experience.
Engaging Race Fans with Virtual Thrills
Škoda’s presence at Silverstone extends beyond providing vehicles. The brand will also set up a dedicated experience stand featuring Gran Turismo 7 racing simulators. This interactive zone allows racegoers to virtually experience the thrill of driving the Škoda Vision GT on a digital replica of the Silverstone track.
Launched in 2024, the Škoda Vision GT is a stunning concept car designed specifically for Gran Turismo 7. Its design pays homage to Škoda’s rich racing history, incorporating elements that echo iconic Škoda racers like the 1100 OHC “Red Racer.”
Shared Passion for Motorsport and Sustainability
Škoda is thrilled about this partnership, as highlighted by Pietro Panarisi, Head of PR & Communications at Škoda UK: “We’re thrilled to be involved with Silverstone, one of the biggest and most famous names in motorsport. Like Silverstone, Škoda has an incredible motorsport pedigree but an eye to the future and a passion for sustainability.”
Silverstone is equally enthusiastic about this collaboration. Nick Read, Chief Commercial Officer at Silverstone, commented: “We are delighted to announce Škoda as the official car partner to Silverstone… This partnership with Škoda is a significant step as we transition to a greener fleet of vehicles and continue to put sustainability at the heart of all we do at Silverstone.”
This partnership between Škoda and Silverstone promises to be a winning combination. It merges Škoda’s motorsport heritage with Silverstone’s drive for sustainable practices, all while offering an exciting and eco-friendly experience for racegoers at the upcoming Formula 1 British Grand Prix.
