Bengaluru-based EV startup Simple Energy has announced that it will launch a new electric scooter, called Dot One. The battery-powered vehicle will be launched in the Indian market on 15th December, expanding the company’s e-scooter portfolio. Its bookings will be opened on the launch day while deliveries are expected to commence in January next year. Shedding more light on the Dot One electric scooter’s build, the company said that it will come equipped with a fixed 3.7 kWh battery pack, promising a certified range of 151 kilometres and IDC range of 160 kilometres. It will come equipped with specially crafted tyres that are touted to optimize its on-road range, thereby enhancing the overall vehicle efficiency.
Simple Dot One will boast over 30 liters of under-seat storage, making it a practical choice for long journeys. It will feature a touchscreen instrument cluster with various functions and app connectivity.
Commenting on the development, Suhas Rajkumar, Founder and CEO of the company, said, “Our vision to deliver accessible electric mobility converges in the Simple Dot One, fusing sleek design with state-of-the-art features.”
Expansion and funding
Earlier in June, the company had said that it would launch two new affordable electric scooters. It aims to expand its portfolio with a line-up of three electric scooters, one performance bike, and possibly a four-wheeler in the next three years. In terms of funding for its upcoming products and expansion, the company aims to retain its existing investors but also onboard institutional players and family offices globally for its proposed USD 100 million fund-raise. Earlier this year in February, it had raised USD 20 million in a bridge round from a clutch of investors to ramp up production. With R&D at its core and more products in the pipeline, Simple Energy aims to be at the forefront of the ongoing global transition to green mobility.
