Porsche Reports Global Sales Surge Despite Decline in China

This growth places Porsche among the top two brands with the highest expansion across all industries.

Porsche recently announced its worldwide sales figures for the first three quarters of the year, revealing impressive growth despite a challenging market landscape. While the overall global sales surged, the company noted a significant decline in its sales performance within China.

Global Sales Increase by 10%

From January to September this year, Porsche successfully delivered a total of 242,722 vehicles to customers worldwide. This figure reflects a noteworthy 10% increase when compared to the same period in the previous year. The company’s commitment to offering highly individualized, exclusive products appeared to resonate well with customers. Detlev von Platen, Member of the Executive Board for Sales and Marketing at Porsche AG, emphasized the strategic focus on such products, which proved advantageous amid global economic uncertainty.

Strong Demand in Europe and Overseas Regions

Porsche’s growth was evident in Europe, where the company delivered 51,742 vehicles during the first nine months, marking a substantial increase of 23%. The home market of Germany also experienced positive growth, with 24,814 cars delivered, signifying a 19% rise from the previous year.

North America joined this trend, recording a double-digit increase of 14%, with 64,487 vehicles delivered. In contrast, the situation in China was challenging, leading to a 12% decrease, resulting in 60,748 vehicles delivered. This decline was attributed to ongoing economic challenges in the region. However, overseas and emerging markets painted a different picture, experiencing a 23% increase with 40,931 vehicles successfully delivered to customers.

The Porsche 911, an iconic model in the company’s lineup, continued to be a favorite among Porsche enthusiasts, boasting a significant 27% increase in deliveries. Over the first three quarters, Porsche delivered a total of 38,789 units of the 911.

The new Cayenne, which celebrated its world premiere in April, demonstrated strong demand. With 64,457 luxury SUVs delivered, there was a slight decrease of 3%. This dip could be attributed to staggered market launches across different regions. As a result, lower product availability occurred temporarily in markets with later launch dates.

The Porsche Macan enjoyed an impressive 15% increase in deliveries, with 68,354 units reaching customers. The Panamera luxury saloon also experienced growth, posting 26,779 deliveries, a 5% increase. Furthermore, the 718 Boxster and 718 Cayman models had 16,458 deliveries, representing an 18% increase.

Rise of the Taycan

The Taycan, Porsche’s remarkable electric vehicle (EV), saw a significant uptick in deliveries. Over the first three quarters, 27,885 customers received their new Taycan, marking an 11% increase.

Despite challenges in the supply chain and variations in the development of the Battery Electric Vehicle (BEV) markets in different world regions, Porsche remains optimistic. The company anticipates substantial sales growth compared to the previous year.

Detlev von Platen expressed confidence in Porsche’s future, stating, “Both global deliveries and demand for models of our brand remain at a high level. We, therefore, start the end-of-year sprint full of strength and vigor, focusing on value-oriented growth.”
