Porsche 911 Turbo Sonderwunsch pays tribute to the first-ever 911 Turbo

Porsche unveiled a one-off 911 Turbo Sonderwunsch at the annual ‘Icons of Porsche’ festival that took place in Dubai on 25th and 26th November with thousands of fans in attendance. The event marked the brand’s 75th anniversary as well as 60 years of the 911. The gathering was also treated to the first public display of the third-generation Panamera, alongside the Sonderwunsch car that has been created to pay homage to the first-ever 911 Turbo.

Homage to the 911 Turbo

The 911 Turbo Nr. 1 was commissioned for Louise Piëch, daughter of Ferdinand Porsche. It was given to Piëch for her 70th birthday. The Sonderwunsch creation re-masters the legendary model, which featured a narrow-chassis 911 Carrera body along with a Turbo rear wing.

It was distinguished from the standard models with the use of Tartan fabric in the red interior, which was handpicked by Piëch to go with its silver paintwork.

The Sonderwunsch project was a collaboration between Style Porsche, Porsche Exclusive Manufaktur and the Porsche Middle East and Africa regional office with support from the Heritage and Museum. “This very special car is not only a showcase of what is possible with our Porsche personalisation programmes.

It also highlights the brave and pioneering Porsche spirit as we look back to the inspiration for this project – the ‘911 Turbo Nr. 1’,” said Manfred Bräunl, CEO of Porsche Middle East and Africa FZE.

What is Porsche Sonderwunsch programme?

In German, ‘Sonderwunsch’ means ‘special requests’. This is how this division of Porsche got its name. It takes personalization to the next level for the customers, giving them the luxury of individuality.

The programme includes consultation, planning and execution of custom colour and material wishes and even the building of customised one-offs.

The programme offers services such as factory commissioning for individual customer colour and material requests directly in production, as well as subsequent factory re-commissioning, and factory one-off after vehicle delivery to the customer.
