Polestar Teams Up with Mobileye for Autonomous Driving

Polestar, the innovative electric car manufacturer, has announced a collaboration with Mobileye to integrate Mobileye’s Chauffeur autonomous driving technology into the Polestar 4, aiming to make it the first production car to feature this cutting-edge technology. The integration will be facilitated by ECARX and holds the potential for future application in additional Polestar vehicles. Mobileye is recognized for its advanced driver assistance system (ADAS) technology, which is already installed in over 150 million vehicles globally.

Polestar 4, the latest addition to the brand’s lineup, has officially gone on sale in China, with global availability scheduled for 2024. Notably, the Polestar 4 model sets the groundwork for this collaboration, as it comes equipped with Mobileye’s SuperVision-based ADAS technology right from its launch. Initial deliveries of the Polestar 4 are expected to commence in China by the end of 2023.

Anticipating Enhanced Autonomy

In the upcoming years, the Chauffeur technology is projected to provide advanced capabilities, including eyes-off, point-to-point autonomous driving on highways, as well as eyes-on automated driving for various other driving environments.

Thomas Ingenlath, CEO of Polestar, expresses his enthusiasm, stating, “I am really happy with how Polestar 4’s production readiness is advancing. A collaboration with Mobileye can significantly push innovation in our Polestar 4 electric performance SUV coupé. We know that driving yourself is not always fun and exciting – this technology means our customers could enable autonomous driving when they want, making all future journeys enjoyable.”

Polestar 4’s Unique Attributes

Polestar 4 is distinguished by its incorporation of design elements from the Polestar Precept concept car, harmonizing aerodynamic coupe lines with the spaciousness and comfort of a modern SUV. Positioned between the Polestar 2 and Polestar 3 in terms of size and pricing, the model aims to bring forth a balance of aesthetics, performance, and sustainability.

The partnership with Mobileye exemplifies Polestar’s dedication to integrating cutting-edge technologies and pushing the boundaries of innovation within the electric vehicle market. As Polestar 4 enters the market with this collaboration, the journey toward more advanced and autonomous driving experiences takes a significant leap forward.
