Pagani has taken the wraps off its latest supercar — the Imola Roadster. The new limited edition from the brand’s Grandi Complicazioni division promises to deliver a thrilling open-top motoring experience.
Don’t discount the Imola Roadster as an open-top iteration of the Imola coupe, which was introduced in 2020. The Imola Roadster goes beyond the engineering of the previous Imola; incorporating the technology of the Huayra BC and aerodynamics of the track-only Huayra R. The result comes in the form of the most sophisticated and best-performing open-top Pagani ever made.
Sitting at the heart of the Imola Roadster is Pagani’s 6.0L twin-turbocharged V12 petrol engine. It now produces an increased 850PS power at 5600rpm and 1100Nm of torque between 3600rpm and 5600rpm. Its engine channels power to the rear wheels via a 7-speed automated manual transmission and an electromechanical differential. The increased power output from the engine demands better cooling, which has been solved by a redesign for the radiators and interior air flows.
Sitting at the top of the roof on the Imola Roadster is an air scoop, which feeds air to the V12 engine. The central fin further minimises waves and stabilises the vehicle at higher speeds. Pagani claims that every body panel of the Imola Roadster has been designed in order to achieve 600kg of downforce at 280kmph.
The Imola Roadster sits on a carbon tub chassis that incorporates Carbo-Titanium HP62-G2 and Carbo-Triax HP62 materials, which are said to be firmer than ever. Thanks to the advanced weight-saving materials, the Imola Roadster weighs just 1,260kg. The light weight also contributes to the impressive handling characteristics of the supercar.
The Imola Roadster runs on an active suspension that works in synergy with the active flaps. The suspension is composed of an independent double wishbone made from aluminium alloy, helical springs, and electronically controlled shock absorbers. The suspension is complimented with sticky Pirelli P Zero Trofeo R tyres — 265/30 R20 at the front and 355/25 R21 at the rear.
