Ferrari has taken the wraps off their latest one-off supercar — the SP-8. Built on a unique client specification, the SP-8 is based on the architecture of the F8 Spider. While its name also signifies its engine’s number of cylinders, the number 8 is also deemed lucky in Chinese culture and the owner of this one-off supercar hails from Taiwan.
While the SP-8 is based on the F8 Spider, it doesn’t have a roof! This step made Ferrari put the SP-8 through the wind tunnel, CFD simulations and track testing to ensure that its acoustics matched the car it’s based on.
If you call yourself a Ferrari nerd, you will notice hints from a bunch of other Ferrari sports and supercars in the design of the SP-8. Its exterior design comes with a two-tone effect. The bonnet of the SP-8 is unpainted carbon fibre, the same material further extends to the side and rear as well, complimenting the unique colour of the SP-8.
Around the side profile, the SP-8 boasts exclusively designed 5-spoke alloy wheels. which are inspired by the classic Ferrari sports and the legendary F-40. The inspiration doesn’t end there; move to the rear and SP-8’s tail lights will look reminiscent of that of the Roma while the tailpipes are a direct carry-over from the 296 GTB. Since the SP-8 doesn’t have a folding roof, Ferrari also redesigned the tail with a taut belt line.
If you fancy ogling at the SP-8 in person, the one-off supercar will be on display from 24th October onwards at the Mugello Circuit till the end of the Finali Mondiali Ferrari 2023. Post the event, the SP-8 will be displayed at the Ferrari Museum in Maranello from November 16, 2023, until March 2024.
