Nissan Motor India (NMIPL) has welcomed Saurabh Vatsa as the Deputy Managing Director, effective January 15. This strategic appointment aligns with Nissan’s ongoing transformation roadmap for India, focusing on delivering the Mid Term Plan (MTP) and achieving the Ambition 2030 goals.

Industry veteran joins Nissan

Saurabh Vatsa brings a wealth of experience to Nissan, joining from Stellantis, where he played a crucial role in spearheading the Citroen brand in India. With over two decades at General Motors (GM) and key leadership roles within the automotive giant, including assignments in South Korea, Vatsa is well-versed in various strategic business functions.

Diverse expertise across Asian markets

His expertise spans multiple areas, including Product Planning, Program Management, Sales Planning, Marketing, Communications, and Retail/Commercial Sales. With extensive experience in Asian markets, Saurabh Vatsa is expected to contribute significantly to Nissan’s future growth in India.

Academic background

Saurabh is a graduate of Delhi University, holding an MBA from the International Management Institute. He has further honed his skills through an executive management program at the prestigious London Business School.

Nissan’s vision for the future

Frank Torres, President of Nissan India Operations, expressed enthusiasm about Saurabh Vatsa’s appointment, highlighting its significance as Nissan embarks on a transformative journey in 2024. The move underscores Nissan’s commitment to invest USD 600 million (INR 5300 crores) in India as part of the Alliance and introduce more products to cater to the Indian consumer base.

In his role as Deputy Managing Director, Vatsa will play a pivotal role in supporting Nissan’s leadership in executing the transformation plan outlined for 2023. The focus is on preparing Nissan for its next phase of growth, building on the success of models like the Nissan Magnite.
