More Mercedes-Benz models join the H license plate from 2024 onwards

The H license plate on Mercedes-Benz cars represents “Historic” and is only granted for cars exceeding 30 years from the date of first purchase. From 2024 onwards, more Mercedes-Benz models will join the list of H-license-plated vehicles, including models from the popular series.

Every year, the Mercedes-Benz Museum organises the Classics and Coffee meetup, where hundreds of classic cars show up — regardless of which brand — ageing over 20 years and boasting the H license plate. The meet-up will begin in spring 2024 again, enabling classic car owners to gather around, grab their favourite choice of coffee and chat about their well-kept classics and automobiles in general.

More Mercedes-Benz models listed

In 2024, important models from series 124, 140 and 202 will become eligible for the registration of H license plate. These models include facelifted series 140 S-class saloons and S 420 coupe; series 124 E-class sedan, estate, coupe and cabriolet; and series 202 C-class C-36 AMG.

The commonality among all the aforementioned vehicles is the timeframe they have covered since their market launch, which is over 30 years. Only models produced before 1994 will become eligible to obtain the H license plate.

Mercedes-Benz genuine replacement parts

Maintaining a car that was originally produced over 30 years ago is not an easy affair. Playing a crucial part in the upkeeping of such cars is Mercedes-Benz, which promises to offer genuine spare parts via its Classic customer portal. The team will help owners procure genuine parts for their classic vehicles whose end of production dates back to the year 1886.

A few notable models

From the eligible list of models for the H license plate, a few are rather rare and worth your attention. From the series 124 E-Class, two models carried the eight-cylinder engine — E 60 AMG and E 500 Limited Edition, which was limited to just 500 units worldwide. The AMG model offered 381PS from its eight-cylinder engine while the E 500 settled with 320PS.

Another interesting mention is the C 36 AMG, which packaged a powerful six-cylinder engine producing 280PS. It also turned out to be a global success since the German marque managed to sell over 5,221 sedans.
