Mercedes-Benz GLE Facelift launched in India

Revealed earlier this year globally, Mercedes-Benz has now introduced the new GLE facelift to the Indian market. The new facelift brings cosmetic updates, new features and more powerful powertrains along with a slight revision in prices. Speaking of its prices, the 300d, 450 and 450d are priced at INR 96.40 lakh, INR 1.10 crore and INR 1.15 crore, respectively. 

Starting with the cosmetic changes, the GLE facelift comes with updated radiator grille designs. The 300d variant comes with a twin-slat grille design whereas the 450 and 450d variants come with the AMG-line grille, featuring a tri-star pattern. The AMG line variants also offer sportier front and rear bumpers, side skirting and 20-inch AMG alloy wheels. In addition, the new GLE facelift also offers an updated set of LED headlights and tail lights.

On the inside, the GLE facelift carries the new steering wheel design from newer models of the brand’s portfolio. The steering wheel boasts a 3-spoke design along with capacitive controls. Additionally, Mercedes-Benz now offer 3 upholstery options for the GLE customers.

Speaking of features, the new GLE facelift introduces features like a Burmester sound system, wireless smartphone charging, 100W fast-charging USB ports, electrically adjustable rear seats and door sunblinds, transparent bonnet 9 airbags, keyless entry and go, blind spot assist and air purification package. Owners choosing the GLE facelift in either the 450 or 450d guise get exclusive features which include an AMG body styling kit, air suspension, ventilated front seats, head-up display and multi-beam LED headlights.

On the powertrain front, the GLE continues to offer three powertrains with the facelift as well. The base GLE 300d has a 2.0L turbo diesel engine producing 270PS of power and 550Nm of torque. The GLE 450 comes with a 3.0L inline-6 turbo petrol engine producing 380PS of power and 500Nm of torque. The GLE 450d comes with 367PS of power and 750Nm of torque.

All the powertrain options of the new GLE facelift come with a 48V mild-hybrid system, which further offers 20PS of power and 200Nm of torque as and when needed. In addition to the hybrid, all engines come mated to a 9-speed torque converter automatic transmission and 4MATIC all-wheel-drive. To improve the off-road prowess of the GLE, Mercedes-Benz has also added features like a transparent bonnet, downhill assist and metal underbody protection.
