Mercedes-AMG GT2 Pro track day racecar revealed

Mercedes-AMG expands its racecar portfolio with the launch of the GT2 Pro. The GT2 Pro is based on the GT2 first showcased in 2022 and adds innovative design and performance-centric features. Like the GT2, the GT2 Pro also makes use of the 4.0L twin-turbocharged petrol engine, albeit with more performance.

The engine puts out 707PS of power and comes coupled with a 6-speed sequential transmission with modified ratios. The transmission sits on the rear axle in a transaxle configuration and connects with the engine via a carbon fibre torque tube.

The highlight of the GT2 Pro is the “Push2Pass” function that provides access to the full potential of the 4.0L twin-turbocharged V8. The Push2Pass feature can be accessed via a button placed on the steering wheel and it bumps up the power from 707PS to 750PS for a limited duration. The feature is exclusively designed for the GT2 Pro and will enable drivers to perform quicker overtakes on track days.

Apart from the engine updates, the GT2 Pro also features visual and aerodynamic changes over the GT2. Speaking of visual changes, the GT2 Pro comes with matte grey paint with GT2 Pro stickers and 18-inch lightweight alloy wheels, which can be specced in two colour options. Its rear wing also gets a redesign for the end plates, rounding up the exterior appearance. The GT2 Pro also features 4-way adjustable motorsport shock absorbers over the GT2’s 3-way adjustable units.

Moving to the inside, the GT2 Pro uses an updated steering wheel, which was earlier designed for E-sports. The new steering wheel gets cube controls which are said to be intuitive to use. In addition, other interior highlights include a vanished centre console, the latest-gen display with improved graphics and factory-fit air conditioning.

Speaking of customer-centric exclusive features, the GT2 Pro comes with a meticulously designed car cover, an individualised race suit, gloves, competition underwear, shoes, and an individualised BELL race helmet. In addition, owners can also order features like a passenger safety cell, a drinking system, a seat and helmet cooling and an individually assembled spare parts package. The customers of the GT2 Pro will get to access the AMG racing series, which will be held at the Circuit Ricardo Tormo near Valencia from November 7th.
