McLaren 750S 3-7-59 theme
Celebrating the triple crown victories, the McLaren 750S 3-7-59 features an exterior paint incorporating over 20 colours and 1200 hours of manpower to paint the entire vehicle. Conceptualised by McLaren Special Operations (MSO), the unique paint is offered to six customer cars, including Coupe and Spider, all of which are already sold out.
The 750S 3-7-59 pays tribute to the winning race cars in each of the triple crown victories — the ‘3’ on the M16D driven at 1974 Indy 500 by Johnny Rutherford; the ‘7’ from Alain Prost’s Monaco winning 1984 McLaren MP4/2; and the ‘59’ as displayed on the McLaren F1 GTR driven to victory at Le Mans in 1995 by Yannick Dalmas, Masanori Sekiya and JJ Lehto.
The 3-7-59 perfectly amalgamates the liveries of each racecar in its unique paintwork. The front of the car takes inspiration from the white and red livery of the McLaren MP4/2 and the number is incorporated in the bonnet’s shattered paint finish. Either side of the car pays homage to the 1995 Le Mans-winning McLaren F1 GTR, with its grey colour scheme and ‘59’ race number. The rear third of the car boasts the livery and race number ‘3’ of the McLaren M16D racecar. The other side of the rear profile carries a unique blue splash paint, which has been designed with 4 shades of blue.
Apart from the unique exterior paint, the McLaren 750S 3-7-59 also carries multiple easter eggs and other highlights. It runs on ultra-lightweight Vortex alloy wheels with brake callipers finished blue, red and Le Mans Gold. In addition, it features 3 QR code scanners — on the exterior and interior — each providing a live portal providing details about the racing legacy of McLaren. The rear profile also features an illuminated MSO logo placed near the airbrake.
Moving on the inside, McLaren 750S 3-7-59 features the triple crown logo embossed on the seat headrests and centre armrests. The seats feature further triple crown art that is etched in graphite Alcantara and is finished with white contrast stitching. Other interior bits like the seats, steering wheel centre marker and extended carbon fibre shift pedals feature the red and white shattered paintwork, which is also seen on the bonnet of the car.
The McLaren 750S 3-7-59 was revealed by McLaren F1 driver, Lando Norris, McLaren IndyCar driver Pato O’Ward, and former McLaren F1 driver Derek Bell, who twice competed at 24 Hours of Le Mans in a McLaren F1 GTR at the luxury motorsports festival, taking place at Sonoma Raceway, USA
