Mazda EZ-6 electric sedan revealed at Beijing Auto Show

Mazda has taken the wraps off the new EZ-6 electric sedan, which is the first of many electric vehicles to come from Mazda’s stable. The new Mazda EZ-6 sits on a dedicated electrified platform and boasts the signature Mazda design philosophy. While its design and driving attributes are taken from Mazda, the innovative tech and features are supplied by Changan Automotive.

Courtesy of its electrified platform, the Mazda EZ-6 will be available in both all-electric and plug-in-hybrid propulsion options. The all-electric EZ-6 will offer a 50:50 weight distribution for confident handling. The new model follows Mazda’s Jimba-ittai principle, which stands for car and driver as one. The design of the Mazda EZ-6 features a flowing design that is both aerodynamic and imposing, thanks to the tapering roof line.

Speaking of its mechanicals, the Mazda EZ-6 measures 4,921mm, 1,890mm and 1,485mm in LxWxH. It comes with a single motor placed at the rear axle powering the rear wheels only. Furthermore, it packs front strut suspension and rear multi-link suspension; and an electric-powered rear spoiler that improves high-speed stability.

Mazda is yet to reveal the battery and motor specifications for the new EZ-6. The carmaker claims that the electric EZ-6 will offer an expected driving range of 600km whereas the plug-in-hybrid will offer a driving range of over 1000km on a single tank of fuel. We expect Mazda to reveal the specifications of the new sedan closer to its launch.

Alongside the new EZ-6, Mazda also revealed the second electrified model, which is slated for late-2025 launch. The new model, called the Mazda ARATA, showcases the design of future electrified Mazda models. It features a crossover body style with a tapering roofline, resulting in a sleek stance. It also features slim LED headlights, and tail lights with signature Mazda design cues.
