The new Maserati GranCabrio Folgore boasts top-tier architecture and specifications while looking strikingly similar to its ICE counterpart. A few of its key highlights include a fabric folding roof, 800V architecture, three electric motors and a comfortable 4-seater configuration.
Starting with its architecture, the new GranCabrio draws power from a 92.5kWh battery pack, out of which 83kWh is usable capacity. The battery channels power to three electric motors — one at the front axle and the remaining two at the rear — offering a combined power and torque output of 761PS and 1350Nm. When the Maxboost function is activated, the GranCabrio further boosts its power output to 830PS!
As a result, the Maserati GranCabrio Folgore can sprint from a standstill to 100kmph in a claimed 2.8 seconds. Keeping the throttle pinned propels the convertible coupe to 290kmph top speed. As much as the performance is impressive, the range is not as the GranCabrio offers a claimed range of up to 447km on a single charge. Thankfully, the charging speed somewhat compensates with a 20-80% charge in just 18 minutes via a 270kW DC fast charger.
Befitting the high loads of power, the GranCabrio also packs a few intelligent electronics up its sleeves. Thanks to the twin electric motors at the rear axle, the GranCabrio features active torque vectoring, which can be adjusted to three different levels. In addition, the Endurance driving mode ensures prolonged dispatch of peak performance for track use.
Coming to the highlight of the new GranCabrio, its fabric roof is available in five colour options — Nero, Blue Marine, Titan Grey, Greige and Granata. The folding mechanism allows the roof to be retracted in 16 seconds at speeds of up to 50kmph and opened up again in under 14 seconds. Like every other convertible coupe, the GranCabrio also boasts features such as a neck warmer and wind deflector for a comforting experience.
