Maruti Suzuki Recalls 87,599 S-Presso and Eeco Vehicles for Steering Tie Rod Check

Maruti Suzuki India has initiated its fourth recall this year, affecting a total of 87,599 vehicles including S-Presso hatchbacks and Eeco vans. The recall aims to examine a possible defect in a section of the steering tie rod, which might impact vehicle steerability and handling. The recall pertains to vehicles manufactured between July 5, 2021, and February 15, 2023.

Maruti Suzuki emphasized that affected vehicle owners will receive communication from authorized dealer workshops for a free inspection and replacement of the faulty component.

This recall marks Maruti Suzuki’s fourth in 2023, bringing the total recalled units to 123,351.

The company’s first recall of the year, on January 17, addressed potential issues in the airbag controller across various models. Subsequent recalls in January and April focused on specific components in Grand Vitaras and Baleno RS hatchbacks.

Since the implementation of SIAM’s voluntary vehicle recall policy in 2012, Maruti Suzuki has conducted a total of 29 recalls involving 863,901 vehicles. The S-Presso and Eeco recall for 87,599 units is the third-largest recall, following larger recalls in September 2021 and July 2020.

Maruti Suzuki’s continued commitment to proactive recalls demonstrates its dedication to ensuring the safety and reliability of its vehicles on the road.
