The eagerly awaited Maruti Suzuki Fronx has finally made its way to the South African market, captivating enthusiasts with its introductory price of ZAR 279,000 (approximately INR 12.23 lakh, ex-showroom). Although the exterior design of the model remains identical to the India-spec version, the most significant transformation can be found under the hood. The South African variant of the Fronx is equipped with a larger 1.5-litre gasoline engine, offering drivers the choice between a 4-speed torque converter automatic gearbox or a 5-speed manual gearbox. This configuration is set to deliver an impressive peak power of 103bhp and a maximum torque of 138Nm.
In contrast, the Fronx available in India boasts two engine options: a 1.2-litre normally aspirated engine and a 1-litre turbo-petrol engine. The Indian market offers the SUV in five distinctive trim levels, while South Africa features two variations. Delving further into the details of the SUV’s engine, features, and more reveals its versatility.
The exterior design of the Fronx remains consistent across both the Indian and South African models, with the exception of a new striking Orange exterior paint option. Inside, the cabin echoes the India-spec version, showcasing a harmonious black/maroon paint scheme and an impressive list of equipment.
The international-spec Fronx introduces two overarching variants: GL and GLX. In contrast, the Indian model is offered in five variations: Sigma, Delta, Delta+, Zeta, and Alpha. The top-tier GLX variant of the Fronx boasts a plethora of features, including an automated climate control system, a generous nine-inch touchscreen infotainment system, auto-dimming IRVM, ambient lighting, a head-up display, a 360-degree camera, and a convenient wireless charger. Complementing these features are automatic headlights, hill hold control, cruise control, six airbags, a telescoping steering wheel, ABS with EBD, ISOFIX mounts, and ESP for enhanced safety.
The Maruti Suzuki Fronx SUV’s journey begins in India with a starting price of INR 7.47 lakh (ex-showroom). In contrast, the South African market is offered the model at ZAR 279,000 (approximately Rs 12.23 lakh, ex-showroom), allowing automotive enthusiasts to experience the Fronx’s compelling blend of style, performance, and features.
