The identified concern pertains to the potential risk of abrasion leading to damage to the wiring loom.

New Delhi: Mahindra & Mahindra (M&M) has initiated a recall affecting more than 1.10 lakh units of its XUV700 and XUV400 EV vehicles. According to the company’s announcement, the recall encompasses 1,08,306 units of the XUV700 produced between June 8, 2021, and June 28, 2023, as well as 3,560 units of the XUV400 manufactured between February 16, 2023, and June 5, 2023.

The decision to recall these vehicles is driven by safety considerations. Specifically, for the XUV700, Mahindra plans to scrutinize the wiring loom routing within the engine bay of the affected models that were manufactured within the stated timeframe. The identified concern pertains to the potential risk of abrasion leading to damage to the wiring loom.

Notably, the Mahindra XUV 700, introduced in 2021, is now undergoing its fifth recall since its launch. In contrast, the XUV 400 is undergoing its inaugural recall. Mahindra’s commitment to enhancing its product lineup through continuous enhancements underscores the brand’s dedication to delivering quality. While recalls can be an inconvenience for consumers, they also underscore Mahindra’s robust customer support and responsibility in addressing emerging issues.

The company has taken proactive measures to prioritize the safety and satisfaction of its customers. Affected vehicle owners will receive direct communication from Mahindra, and the necessary inspections and corrections will be carried out without any charges. This recall effort aligns with the voluntary guidelines governing vehicle recalls.

In regard to the Mahindra XUV400 sub-4 meter SUV units produced between February 16, 2023, and June 5, 2023, a comprehensive inspection will be conducted to address concerns related to the brake potentiometer’s spring return action, which has been identified as ineffective in these specific vehicles.
