Magenta Mobility, an integrated provider of electric mobility solutions, has launched ‘Project 302,’ named after the Pincode for Bhiwandi, one of India’s largest warehousing hubs. As part of this initiative, Magenta has opened a new office and charging depot in Bhiwandi, deploying electric vehicles (EVs) under a hub-and-spoke model. The inauguration ceremony was graced by Mr. Somnath Karnavar Patil, Assistant Police Inspector, Mankoli Bhiwandi.

This strategic move underscores Magenta Mobility’s commitment to decarbonising logistics and expanding its footprint in the e-commerce, FMCG, FCMD, and logistics sectors across the region. The facility will initially operate with a fleet of 500 EVs, including three-wheelers and four-wheelers, to meet the rising demand for sustainable transportation solutions. To support operations, Magenta plans to hire approximately 200 local Delivery Executives (DEs). Additionally, the installation of a charging hub will transform the office into an EV hub, creating numerous employment opportunities in logistics, charging operations, and field operations.

Bhiwandi, spanning 25 million square feet, serves as a critical hub for e-commerce and third-party logistics, bolstered by infrastructure developments like Metro Line 5, connectivity to major cities and ports, and proactive government support. Located on the outskirts of Mumbai, Bhiwandi hosts warehouses for leading e-commerce players, pharmaceutical firms, FMCG giants, retailers, and conglomerates, making it an ideal operational base for Magenta Mobility’s regional expansion.

Maxson Lewis, Founder and CEO of Magenta Mobility, expressed enthusiasm about the expansion, highlighting Bhiwandi’s strategic advantages such as proximity to Mumbai, Thane, and key ports, facilitating faster deliveries and reducing operational costs. This expansion aligns with Magenta Mobility’s sustainability objectives while enhancing operational capabilities in Western India.

The new office will exemplify best sustainability practices, utilising natural light to minimise electricity consumption, adopting a paperless approach to reduce environmental impact, and promoting sustainability through initiatives like reusable cups and recycled paper bags. Magenta Mobility has also partnered with an e-waste management firm to responsibly handle e-waste generated from its offices and operations.

Currently, Magenta Mobility operates 11 offices across 10 cities in India, with the Bhiwandi office being its fourth location in Maharashtra, complementing offices in Mumbai and Pune. This expansion is part of Magenta Mobility’s ambitious ‘Ab Ki Baar Dus Hazaar’ program, aiming to deploy 10,000 electric vehicles by September 2025. To date, Magenta Mobility’s fleet has covered 16 million clean kilometers across 17 cities, preventing 430 metric tons of carbon dioxide emissions. Magenta Mobility continues to lead in safe, smart, and sustainable logistics solutions nationwide.
