Liquid-cooled DC fast charger
The first charging option from Lotus is its liquid-cooled DC fast charger. The fast charger is capable of delivering up to 450kW, which is capable of adding a range of 142km in the Lotus Eletre R with a charge top-up of 5 minutes. Furthermore, it can also charge the battery from 10-80% in 20 minutes or 120km range top-up with a 5-minute charge with an output of 350kW.
Liquid-cooled power cabinet and charging unit
Lotus’ power cabinet is targeted to spaces like motorway rest spots that require high energy output. The power cabinet offers an output of 480kW, which is said to be market-leading. It is said to minimise charging time while also increasing the overall efficiency. The power cabinet, when paired to the charging unit, is capable of charging up to 4 vehicles at once. The charging unit has a maximum current output of 600 Amp, claiming to meet the needs of diverse electric vehicles.
All the fast-charging solutions from Lotus feature liquid cooling, which is said to increase efficiency and cut down the charging time. Lotus has already rolled out its charging solutions in China while the availability across the major European countries and the Middle East is said to take place in the second quarter (Q2) of 2024.
With the ever-so-improving charging infrastructure, Lotus also promises its customers the latest options available. Lotus customers will be able to easily upgrade to the 450kW charging solution without any hardware costs as and when its market availability takes place in due course.
Alan Wang, Vice-President of Lotus Technology and CEO at Lotus Flash Charge, said: “As more governments are increasing investment into electrification in their journey to net-zero, the demand for a reliable electric vehicle charging infrastructure has never been higher than before. Lotus has developed best-in-class fast charging solutions to deliver a quick and reliable charging experience to meet customer needs.”
