Land Rover is set to honor its longstanding relationship with the British royal family at the 2024 Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance by showcasing 10 vehicles crafted for royal use over the decades. This prestigious event marks a unique reunion as Land Rover prepares to split into three entities.

Curating this special display posed a significant challenge, as some vehicles remain in the possession of the royal family, while others are now part of private collections or housed at the British Motor Museum. Land Rover’s Classic division also retains ownership of a few of these historic vehicles.

“This will be the first time these 10 vehicles are exhibited together in the United States,” noted a Land Rover spokesperson, highlighting the rarity and historical significance of the occasion. To commemorate this milestone, Land Rover plans to host a British garden party, adding a touch of regal elegance to the event.

Among the highlights of the display is the 1954 Series I State Review vehicle, originally commissioned for Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip’s extensive tour of the Commonwealth. This particular model, distinguished by its bespoke rear platform, holds a special place in Land Rover’s royal legacy.

On the contemporary end of the spectrum, attention turns to a 2009 Range Rover, affectionately embraced by Queen Elizabeth II as her preferred vehicle. Although the distinctive labrador ornament that adorned its hood has been safely stored away, this model remains a symbol of the royal family’s enduring connection with Land Rover.

Other notable vehicles include a 1966 Series IIa Station Wagon, featuring luxurious appointments such as leather upholstery and custom fittings like a wooden dog guard—a testament to the royal family’s specific preferences. Additionally, a 1974 Range Rover, equipped with folding rear seats and a concealed umbrella, exemplifies Land Rover’s role as the preferred State Review vehicle from 1975 to 2002.

The eagerly anticipated Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance is scheduled for August 18, 2024, promising a grand celebration of Land Rover’s heritage alongside the illustrious history of the British royal family.
