Monterey Car Week witnessed the debut of Lamborghini’s latest concept car, the Lanzador. This concept serves as a preview of the brand’s future fourth model, anticipated to arrive in 2028. As an integral part of Lamborghini’s Direzione Cor Tauri strategy, the Lanzador signifies a pivotal stride towards the electrification and decarbonization goals set in motion back in 2021.
Crafted as an innovative Gran Turismo 2+2 concept, the Lanzador mesmerizes with its audacious and futuristic design while maintaining the quintessential Lamborghini DNA – a blend of unyielding charisma and sportiness. This creation anticipates an unparalleled driving experience tailored for a new wave of technology-savvy customers.
Stephan Winkelmann, Chairman and CEO of Automobili Lamborghini, said, “With this concept, we are ushering in a new car segment, the Ultra GT, which is poised to offer customers a new and unparalleled driving experience, one that’s quintessentially Lamborghini, thanks to groundbreaking technologies.”
Underneath its captivating exterior, the Lanzador is equipped with dual electric motors – one for each axle – delivering all-wheel drive capability and efficiency across diverse driving scenarios, terrains, and driving styles. This powertrain configuration boasts a peak output exceeding one megawatt, ensuring exhilarating performance.
A distinctive feature of the Lanzador is the driver’s ability to customize control systems on-the-fly via controls integrated into the sports steering wheel. This interactive approach empowers the driver to actively fine-tune the car’s behavior, curating a personalized driving profile that aligns with their driving preferences and aspirations.
Taking center stage is the Lamborghini Dinamica Veicolo Integrata (LDVI) driving dynamics control system, setting a new benchmark for both concept and future production cars from the house of Sant’Agata Bolognese. LDVI enables an unprecedented level of customization, allowing drivers to modulate active control systems to match their specific driving requirements.
Active Aerodynamics is pivotal in the Lanzador’s performance arsenal, with systems deployed at the front and rear to optimize aerodynamic efficiency across various driving modes. This technology, by precisely regulating airflow, contributes to increased range in Urban mode and heightened downforce in Performance mode.
Through its steerable rear axle and air suspension, the Lanzador seamlessly adapts to diverse surfaces and driver-defined settings. These can be efficiently adjusted while driving via steering wheel controls.
Inside the Lanzador, Lamborghini offers a glimpse into future styling solutions, not only in terms of exterior aesthetics but also in the realm of interior design. The cabin offers an entirely futuristic environment that embodies Lamborghini’s “Feel like a pilot” philosophy. The driver and passenger are enveloped in an ergonomic space, featuring a sleek control panel that allows real-time adjustments to the car’s behavior while on the move.
Lamborghini’s commitment to sustainability echoes through the Lanzador’s interior, which utilizes eco-conscious materials like merino wool and regenerated carbon fiber. The company’s resolve to reduce environmental impact while retaining luxury and comfort is evident. Elements such as 3D-printed recycled fibers are used for certain non-visible plastic components.
The Lanzador signifies a pivotal milestone in Lamborghini’s journey towards electrification and decarbonization. This concept car forms a key element of the broader strategy to reduce CO2 emissions and foster a sustainable vision for the future.
