The new Kia EV4 Concept reimages the idea of a conventional sedan design and portrays what the spiritual electric successor of the Stinger GT could look like.
Electric Sedan Crossover — Reimagined
We have seen a host of new designs and segments in the world of electric mobility. Carmakers tend to start off on a clean sheet of paper, the outcome of which, is fresh designs and body styles. One of which is crossover sedans, which isn’t a brand new concept, but electric propulsion gives it a new life. The EV4 concept is one fine example of that and it manages to offer a striking amalgamation of crossover and sedan.
Like the EV3, EV5 and EV9, the EV4 also offers a striking design, albeit with graceful curves, which stand it apart from its butch crossover siblings. However, it has managed to carry certain design cues from Kia’s EV lineup to amp up the crossover quotient. Its surprisingly small overhangs incorporate a sufficient amount of black cladding that finds its way to the side profile as well. Another design highlight of its side profile is the sloping roofline, which seamlessly merges with the tailgate.
Sleeker And Cleaner Interior
With a ubiquitous touch panel placement and clean dashboard layout, most Kia EV models look identical on the inside. The EV4 Concept goes one step beyond to further minimise the clutter inside the cabin. It features a “slide-out” panel for climate control, which when not in use seamlessly conceals itself in the dashboard.
Since Kia has only showcased the EV4 as a concept, the Korean carmaker is yet to share the technical details of the electric crossover sedan. The EV4 could go on sale in the international markets closer to the launch of the EV3 and EV5 electric SUVs.
