Jeep unveiled the Wagoneer S, its first global electric SUV, as it embarks on a new era of eco-friendly vehicles. The Wagoneer S boasts a range of over 300 miles, a luxurious interior packed with the latest technology, and fast-charging capabilities. Powered by a 100 kWh battery, it can charge from 20% to 80% in just 23 minutes, setting a new standard for electric SUVs.
“Distinctively a Jeep and 100% electric in every way,” said Jeep CEO Antonio Filosa, highlighting the unique identity of the Wagoneer S. The SUV features signature design upgrades for the electric age, including a reimagined seven-slot closed grille that signifies its departure from traditional gasoline models.
Technological advancements and interior features
Built on Stellantis’ STLA Large platform, which is also expected to support the upcoming electric Dodge Charger, the Wagoneer S has been specifically modified for its unique requirements. Inside, Jeep has incorporated its latest software and connectivity technologies, offering a “best-in-class” display with 45 inches of screen space, including a 10.25-inch interactive passenger screen.

Jeep’s aggressive pricing strategy for the Wagoneer S is designed to make a significant impact in the EV market. Antonio Filosa expressed confidence in Jeep’s new electric offerings, stating, “Something like 100% will be conquested,” referring to both the Wagoneer S and the Recon EVs. He added, “The brands we are targeting are mainly Tesla… but there are many others.”
According to CarsDirect, the Wagoneer S will enter the market with this substantial lease discount, though specific lease deals are yet to be announced. Jeep has already notified dealers in 12 states about the new offer through Stellantis Financial Services.
Competitive market landscape
The Wagoneer S Launch Edition, priced starting at USD 71,995, will begin arriving at US dealerships this fall. It enters a competitive landscape where Tesla’s Model Y remains a strong contender. The rear-wheel-drive Model Y starts at USD 44,900 with a range of up to 320 miles. With federal tax credits, the price can drop to as low as USD 37,490. The all-wheel-drive version starts at USD 47,990 and offers up to 308 miles of range.
Other competitors in the electric SUV market include the Rivian R1S (USD 76,700), Porsche Macan Electric (USD 80,450), and Audi Q8 e-tron (USD 75,595). Lower-priced models like the Hyundai IONIQ 5, starting at USD 41,800, also present strong competition.
