Imagine a rugged yet refined 4X4, meticulously hand-finished with bespoke materials and customised detailing – that’s the essence of Arcane Works. Each limited run will boast a distinct character, featuring unique names, new technologies, and a curated set of features.
The program leverages the Grenadier’s inherent strengths: best-in-class off-road capability seamlessly blended with modern on-road comfort. Built on a robust body-on-frame platform engineered in Germany, each Grenadier then journeys to France for final assembly at a facility acquired by INEOS from Mercedes-Benz in 2021. Here’s where the magic truly happens – the hand-finishing touches by specially selected craftspeople.
“Arcane Works is intended to create a truly individual 4X4,” says George Ratcliffe, Commercial Director at INEOS Automotive. “We know this is something our customers have been looking for, and working in small batches means we can give them a genuinely custom-made experience.”
The name “Arcane” perfectly embodies the program’s essence – vehicles so unique they’ll be rarely seen. Customers will collaborate with these expert craftspeople to select from a vast array of finishes and colour-matching technologies, ensuring their Grenadier reflects their individual style.
But Arcane Works isn’t just about aesthetics. It also serves as a testing ground for innovation. INEOS plans to utilise this program to experiment with new technologies and features for future vehicles. This could include uprated engine modifications, innovative chassis systems, and the exploration of novel materials. Powertrain options remain the proven BMW B57 diesel and B58 petrol engines, both 3.0-liter straight-sixes with a well-deserved reputation for refined performance.
The first creation from Arcane Works will be unveiled in July 2024 at the Goodwood Festival of Speed, an event that celebrates automotive excellence. With this program, INEOS caters to a niche market of discerning off-road enthusiasts who demand a vehicle as unique and adventurous as they are.
