At the Smart Mobility Conference 2023, Bosch offered a practical solution to a pressing urban challenge – parking. With the proposed solution, Bosch India aims to radically change the landscape of parking infrastructure by connecting with enterprises and small-scale businesses.
Problems With Parking Infrastructure In India
Parking is a significant infrastructural concern in India, and the lack of harmony between hardware and software causes roadblocks for seamless and digitalised parking solutions.
According to Siddhartha Saha, Head of the Parked Vehicle Ecosystem at Bosch India, technology penetration in various layers across the ecosystem is crucial for digitalising parking in India. Furthermore, attention to two-wheeler parking, commercial vehicle parking, and electric vehicle parking, including last-mile mobility solutions, is necessary.
Bosch’s parked vehicle ecosystem helps OEMs with proper production principles, high-quality yet efficient equipment, supply chain optimisation and data aggregation to build a dependable public platform. Bosch is providing a whole parking ecosystem, which includes equipment and services, to its creator partners that enables them to focus on their product and customers.
Digitalisation Of Parking Infrastructure Via RFID
To digitalise parking payments, FASTag is a nationwide payment format that can be further incorporated into parking systems. Service providers are making use of RFID technology to centralise parking in India, which is boosting FASTag as a standard payment platform. This will allow a faster flow of vehicles, cashless parking transactions, and various vision technologies that will reduce infrastructure overload.
Expansion To Local Markets
While Tier 1 cities have shown improvement in parking infrastructure, the rest of the country is yet to catch up with the trend of digitalised parking. Bosch is also engaging with local partners to penetrate the trend of digitalised parking into the nation’s roots. Siddhartha said, “Our philosophy is to share our 100 years of expertise in India with our partners, which will enable faster penetration in local markets as well.”
Building Parking Ecosystem Beyond Digitalisation
Bosch’s contribution goes beyond the digitalisation of parking in India. Its Parked Vehicle Ecosystem also includes parking strategies and technologies. From figuring out strategically-located parking to ensuring the availability of amenities like washrooms and EV charging, Bosch studies every aspect to deliver an end-to-end solution to its clientele.
