Bajaj Auto, a global leader in the production of two-wheelers and three-wheelers, has marked a significant milestone in its international expansion with the inauguration of a new manufacturing facility in Manaus, Brazil. This event, attended by high-profile dignitaries including the Governor of the Amazon state, along with dealers and business partners, further solidifies Bajaj Auto’s position as the “World’s Favourite Indian.” The company’s global reach now extends to 100 countries, showcasing its growing international presence and customer base.

The new plant, located at Av. do Turismo, nº 13.529 – Bairro Tarumã, boasts an impressive 9,600 square meters of space equipped with cutting-edge manufacturing technology. It features advanced engine assembly, vehicle assembly, and testing facilities, with a production capacity of 20,000 units per year on a single shift. The strategic location in Manaus offers significant fiscal benefits and proximity to supply chains and major transportation hubs, enhancing operational efficiency.

The facility is designed with state-of-the-art automated production lines and integrated quality control systems. Multiple conveyor and transfer systems ensure seamless connectivity between various stages of manufacturing. The plant utilises the Protheus ERP system to streamline operations across manufacturing, supply chain management, finance, and HR. Initially, the focus will be on manufacturing Dominar models, with plans to expand to Pulsar models in the future.

Remarkably, the plant was completed in record time, becoming production-ready within a year of commencing work in June 2023. The facility has already achieved ISO certification for its production processes, underscoring Bajaj’s commitment to quality and operational excellence. Bajaj do Brasil has successfully integrated local suppliers and begun sourcing key motorcycle parts and components from within Manaus, contributing to the local economy.

At the inauguration ceremony, Rakesh Sharma, Executive Director of Bajaj Auto Ltd., expressed enthusiasm about the new plant’s potential. He highlighted the quantum shift in local capability to fulfill demand, particularly for the Dominar brand, which has been well-received since its launch 18 months ago. Sharma emphasised that the new manufacturing capabilities will enable Bajaj to expand its distribution network, introduce new products, and meet growing customer expectations. He also underlined the company’s commitment to Brazil and its intention to integrate further into the local automotive industry.

Looking ahead, Bajaj do Brasil has plans to expand the facility further, potentially increasing production capacity to up to 50,000 units per year. This expansion demonstrates the company’s long-term commitment to the Brazilian market and its confidence in future growth opportunities.

Bajaj Auto’s global success is evident in its impressive statistics: over 21 million motorcycles sold in more than 79 countries, making it India’s No.1 motorcycle exporter with two out of three bikes sold internationally carrying a Bajaj badge. The company is also the world’s largest manufacturer of three-wheelers. Bajaj Auto has achieved several notable milestones, including being the first two-wheeler company globally to reach a market cap of INR one trillion, maintaining its position as the world’s most valuable two-wheeler company.

With a 75-year legacy of delivering high-quality products featuring best-in-class design and technology, Bajaj Auto continues to demonstrate its commitment to innovation and quality. The company’s focus on new product initiatives positions it well for future challenges and opportunities in the global automotive market.

This expansion into Brazil represents not just a new manufacturing facility, but a strategic move to strengthen Bajaj Auto’s global presence, enhance its production capabilities, and tap into new markets. It reflects the company’s adaptability, forward-thinking approach, and commitment to meeting the evolving needs of customers worldwide.
