Hyundai Motor India is gearing up for the launch of the second-generation Venue SUV in 2025, marking its production debut at the recently acquired Talegaon plant from GM India. The compact SUV will uphold its sub-four-metre design, retaining its position above the newly introduced Exter sub-compact SUV within Hyundai’s Indian lineup.
Taking over from its predecessor, the first-generation Venue, which has seen remarkable sales since its May 2021 launch, the upcoming model aims to continue the SUV’s success trajectory. With over 450,000 units sold, the Venue competes against popular rivals like Maruti Brezza, Tata Nexon (with an upcoming facelift), Kia Sonet, and Mahindra XUV300 (both planning facelifts).
The upcoming Venue will claim its distinction as the pioneer Hyundai model to emerge from the Talegaon, Pune plant. Envisioned to produce around 150,000 units annually, this facility’s operations are slated to commence in 2025. Internally dubbed Q2Xi, the new Venue follows its predecessor’s codename, QXi, with the ‘i’ denoting India.
The Talegaon plant’s expansion contributes significantly to Hyundai’s production capacity. While GM India’s current annual production capacity at the plant stands at 130,000 units, Hyundai Motor India has strategic plans to enhance its capabilities. After augmenting its Sriperumbudur plants in Chennai by an additional 70,000 units, resulting in a total capacity of 820,000 units per annum, the Talegaon plant’s reinforcement will enable Hyundai to collectively manufacture nearly a million cars and SUVs yearly. This expansion aligns with Hyundai’s ambitions to strengthen its market presence and cater to the evolving demands of Indian consumers.
